Accomplishments

A commitment to environmental stewardship means doing everything we can to reduce the environmental impacts of our own facilities and operations – our so-called “environmental footprint.” Following are just a few examples of the environmental improvements we have made at our corporate headquarters in Danbury, Connecticut.

  • Since 1993, Branson has taken steps to decrease electricity use by nearly 50% and natural gas consumption by nearly 80%.
  • Through aggressive recycling efforts, Branson has reduced white and shredded paper waste by more than 75%.
  • Branson was the first facility in Connecticut to participate in the ClimateWise program, a voluntary initiative sponsored by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy to promote energy efficiency and pollution prevention.
  • In 2002, several Branson employees realized that incoming “junk mail” was generating a huge amount of solid waste. These employees quickly undertook a series of simple steps that reduced the volume of junk mail Branson received by 75%. Identifying opportunities for environmental improvement and acting on them is an important part of our corporate culture.
